Jen Psaki returned to her press secretary roots podium and all for a searing and satirical mock briefing on MSNBC’s The Briefing, aimed squarely at White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt and President Donald Trump. The Friday night segment took on a theatrical tone, with Psaki using the setup to sharply criticize recent Republican actions and policies, Mediaite reported.
“I have noticed the White House briefing room has taken a bit of a bizarro turn lately,” Psaki began. “And I figured, what the hell, it’s a Friday night. Why not dust off the cobwebs and field a few questions from the White House press briefing room today? Because it’s been a while. Of course, I’m going to answer them without the usual MAGA spin.”

Psaki wasted no time targeting Trump’s meme cryptocurrency venture, which offers fans a chance to win a dinner with him. Pretending to respond to The Bulwark’s Andrew Egger, she said, “This is all about the grift. Selling access to make himself and his adult sons richer is a key part of this presidency.
And guess what? It’s working.” Psaki claimed Trump and his allies have made over $320 million since the coin’s launch. Next came a mock question from Fox News’ Jacqui Heinrich on a rushed UK trade deal. “The announcement and the headlines it generates are pretty much the point,” Psaki said.

“The deal is just a bit of an empty shell… But the 10% tariff on goods remains in place. And there are big remaining questions… like any UK tax on digital services for the US.” When New York Post’s Steven Nelson “asked” about New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ White House visit, Psaki referenced past tense moments and quipped, “This reporter once asked me if the Bidens were going to put their dog down.”
She continued, “Eric Adams is visiting because he owes his current freedom to the guy sitting in the White House… Even the judge who allowed the case to be dropped said that it, quote, smacks of a bargain.” Psaki also addressed Trump’s vague stance on taxing the rich, telling CBS’ Nikole Killion, “He just definitely does not want them to increase taxes… He’s trying to walk a tightrope here, Nikole.”

In response to Axios’ Sophia Cai’s question on the dismantling of the Consumer Product Safety Commission, Psaki stressed the real-life implications: “These people also inspect things like strollers and seat belts.”

Psaki closed the segment with a pointed reply to Associated Press’ Chris Megerian regarding Trump’s abrupt firing of Carla Hayden, the Librarian of Congress. Holding up Hayden’s photo, she said, “I’ll let you draw your own conclusions… Hope that was all clarifying.”
The mock briefing combined sharp political commentary with Psaki’s signature style, blending experience, sarcasm, and a message aimed squarely at today’s turbulent political scene.
