Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) is refusing to back down after delivering a blunt and profane response to a right-wing journalist who questioned her on Capitol Hill about Democratic engagement in El Salvador. The heated moment, which quickly went viral, has sparked intense reactions from both critics and supporters.
The incident occurred when Myles Morell, a reporter for conservative outlet The Daily Caller, approached Omar with a question about Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland father who was reportedly wrongfully deported to El Salvador.
“Do you think more of your Democratic colleagues should be traveling to El Salvador to advocate on behalf of Abrego Garcia?” Morell asked as Omar walked with her aides, according to The Daily Beast.
Omar didn’t hesitate with her response. “I think you should f— off,” she said bluntly, continuing to walk past the journalist. Taken aback, Morell asked for clarification. “I’m sorry, what, congresswoman? Who should?” “You,” Omar repeated firmly.

Video of the exchange was quickly circulated on social media, with right-wing figures and commentators accusing the congresswoman of being unprofessional. Morell posted his own footage on X (formerly Twitter), calling Omar’s behavior “very unprofessional, very rude,” and claiming he was simply “a journalist who’s trying to do his job.”
The backlash from conservative circles was swift, with many labeling her response as inappropriate for a sitting member of Congress. But Omar showed no signs of regret, responding with a defiant message to her critics.
“I said what I said,” she wrote in a pointed reply to the MAGA-aligned account Libs of TikTok. “You and all your miserable trolls can f— off.”
Omar, a frequent target of right-wing media and online attacks, has often clashed with conservative journalists and influencers. Her latest response underscores her unwillingness to play by traditional political decorum when confronted by what she sees as bad-faith actors.

The exchange highlights the growing tension between lawmakers and ideologically driven media outlets, especially in an election year where immigration, deportations, and border policy are taking center stage. For Omar, the message was clear — she won’t be taking questions, or criticism, lying down.
