Sen. Elizabeth Warren Takes a Jab at Trump and Vance with a Viral Joke at the DNC

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) couldn’t resist using a viral internet joke to poke fun at Donald Trump and his running mate, J.D. Vance, during her speech at the Democratic National Convention on Thursday night.

The Massachusetts senator began by praising Vice President Kamala Harris, highlighting her commitment to supporting families and contrasting it sharply with Trump’s approach, told HuffPost.

“We need to make life more affordable for working people. Donald Trump, the felon, has no plans to lower costs for families. He doesn’t know how, and basically, he doesn’t really care,” Warren said. “When did he ever fill up a gas tank or worry about a grocery bill? The only bills he worries about are from his criminal defense lawyers.”

Warren then took a playful dig at Vance, referencing a bizarre and widely circulated joke from the internet suggesting that Vance had confessed to having a strange relationship with couches. “Trust Donald Trump and J.D. Vance to look out for your family? Shoot, I wouldn’t trust them to move my couch,” Warren quipped, drawing laughs from the audience.

Interestingly, Vance has embraced the joke, even referencing couches in a speech at a rally in Nevada last month. Warren’s use of humor, blending sharp political critique with a touch of internet culture, added a lighter yet pointed moment to her speech, as she underscored her concerns about Trump and Vance’s priorities and capabilities in addressing the needs of American families.
