“When the Rubber Meets the Road, There’s Going to Be Some Fireworks”: Rep. Chip Roy Calls for GOP Unity Behind MAGA Agenda

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) issued a stern warning to his GOP colleagues, urging them to unite behind President-elect Donald Trump’s MAGA agenda and take decisive action come January. Speaking on The Benny Show podcast on Tuesday, Roy expressed frustration with Republicans in Congress who have not fully embraced the MAGA agenda and who he believes have failed to “clean out the entire system.”

“That’s why I supported RFK, that’s why I support people who want to blow this system up,” Roy said. “Right, start back over. Go back to the founding principles. But if I hear one more Republican tell me I’ve got to get in line to be a team player – I don’t want to be a part of a team of losers – I want to be on a team that wants to win and deliver for the American people.”

During his conversation with conservative podcaster Benny Johnson, Roy continued to criticize members of his own party for not fully committing to the agenda that helped Trump secure victory. He argued that Republicans who rode Trump’s coattails to power are now failing to uphold his promises.

“We have a Republican conference that is not committed fully to doing what the president campaigned on and that they grabbed his coattails to be dragged across the line to get a razor-thin majority, which the House would’ve lost but for President Trump’s coattails,” Roy stated.

“So, we’ve gotta actually deliver and I don’t think right now Republicans know what that means.” Roy’s remarks came as he called on the GOP to unite and work together to craft a strategy for the future. He warned that failure to do so would lead to conflict within the party.

“I’m just telling you, when the rubber meets the road, there’s going to be some fireworks if we don’t find a way as a Republican conference to get in a room and figure all this out,” Roy concluded. Roy’s comments reflect growing tension within the GOP as it prepares to take control of the House, with many Republicans still divided over how closely to align with Trump’s agenda.
