A New Jersey woman is now facing serious charges after allegedly using Tinder—not for dating, but to hire a hitman to kill her ex-boyfriend and his teenage daughter.
According to officials in Camden County, 26-year-old Jaclyn Diiorio is charged with two counts of first-degree attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. Authorities say she connected with a confidential informant—posing as a hitman—on the dating app Tinder. From there, things escalated quickly.

The two reportedly exchanged several messages and phone calls before meeting in person at a Wawa convenience store in Runnemede back in March. Diiorio allegedly made her intentions crystal clear: she wanted her ex, a 53-year-old Philadelphia police officer, dead. Not only that, but she also allegedly expressed wanting his 19-year-old daughter killed as well.

The court documents state that Diiorio and the officer had broken up on March 6. The pair initially met through her job—she had been his barber. But what began as a professional connection turned dark fast. Prosecutors claim that by April 3, Diiorio met up with the informant again, this time handing over $500 in cash as an apparent down payment on the job. That’s when officers stepped in and took her into custody, as reported by the New York Post.
The probable cause statement paints a disturbing picture. It says Diiorio was “adamant” about having her ex killed and even agreed to pay a total of $12,000 for the double hit. The informant notified authorities, triggering an investigation that ultimately led to her arrest.

When she was taken into custody, officials say Diiorio also had a bottle of suspected alprazolam, the generic form of Xanax, in her possession—landing her an additional drug possession charge.
It’s not clear yet whether Diiorio has a lawyer representing her. She’s scheduled to make her first court appearance on Friday. Meanwhile, officials are encouraging anyone with information about the case to reach out to Detective Ryan Durham of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit.
The case has left many shocked, not just by the alleged plot but by the fact that it all reportedly started on a dating app. What’s typically seen as a place for flirting and awkward first dates turned into the backdrop for a murder-for-hire scheme that thankfully didn’t succeed.
