A Gettysburg woman has been arrested and charged after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend during a violent altercation on Monday, September 1, according to police reports.
Christina Morris, 39, is facing charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault, and additional related offenses stemming from the incident. The Cumberland Township Police Department responded to a call on Walker Avenue around 9:50 p.m., where the victim reported being stabbed by his girlfriend.
Upon arrival, officers observed a physical struggle taking place inside the kitchen of the residence. Police said the victim, covered in blood, managed to open the door for them. At that point, Morris fled to the back of the trailer but was quickly located and taken into custody.
Investigators said the victim told officers the incident began suddenly while the two were watching television. According to the report, Morris allegedly threatened, “she was going to kill him and his family,” before retrieving a knife from the kitchen. A physical altercation followed, during which Morris struck him multiple times in the face, causing visible injuries.
The victim further stated that Morris attempted to stab him in the neck. He raised his arm to block the attack and suffered two stab wounds to his upper left shoulder instead, police reported. Emergency medical personnel treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to Gettysburg Hospital for further care.
After the victim was taken to the hospital, officers re-entered the residence. Police said they found a large amount of blood in the kitchen and recovered the suspected weapon from a silverware drawer, according to the Local 12.
Morris was transported to Adams County Prison, where she agreed to speak with investigators about the incident. According to the police report, she admitted to retrieving a knife from the kitchen drawer and “put[ting] the knife up to the victim.” Morris also acknowledged that she eventually returned the knife to the drawer.
Authorities said there was sufficient probable cause to support the charges filed against her. Court documents show Morris is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on September 10.
The case has raised concern in the Gettysburg community, where violent incidents of this nature are uncommon. Police emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, though they believe the incident was isolated and that there is no threat to the public.
Morris remains held in Adams County Prison as her legal proceedings move forward, while the victim continues to recover from his injuries.
