A Louisiana community is reeling after a devastating murder-suicide claimed the lives of four family members, including a 2-year-old girl, just days before Mother’s Day. Authorities say a woman now faces the unimaginable — spending the holiday burying her toddler daughter.
The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) confirmed the incident occurred early Monday morning, May 6, at a residence in Keithville. Deputies responded around 6:50 a.m. to a welfare check at the home after someone raised concerns about the residents.

Upon arriving, deputies attempted to make contact with someone inside the house but were unsuccessful. Moments later, they heard a single gunshot. A drone was then deployed to enter the home and survey the scene safely.
What authorities discovered was grim: four deceased individuals were found inside. According to the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office, the victims were identified as Leroy Sadler, 60; Judy Sadler, 64; James Sadler, 29; and 2-year-old Adalynn Mae Sadler.
While officials have not publicly identified the shooter, the Coroner’s Office has classified the deaths of Judy, James, and Adalynn as homicides. The incident remains under investigation by CPSO.
Public records indicate the residence belonged to Leroy and Judy Sadler. The sheriff’s office said neighbors described one of the individuals involved as a possible “doomsday prepper,” adding another layer of complexity to the case.
In the wake of the tragedy, family members are rallying around Adalynn’s mother, Kara, who is now facing every parent’s worst nightmare. A GoFundMe campaign launched by Kara’s cousin aims to help cover funeral expenses and support the grieving mother during this unimaginable time.

“Adalynn Mae was beautiful, so intelligent, and always full of joy,” the fundraiser reads. “She was the brightest light in Kara’s life and truly the sweetest little girl you could ever meet.”
The post also noted the heartbreaking timing of the tragedy: “Instead of spending this Mother’s Day weekend with her baby, she will be laying her to rest. No mother should ever have to feel that kind of pain.”

As the investigation continues, the community is left mourning a young life cut far too short, and a family torn apart. The sheriff’s office has not released further details regarding motive or the exact sequence of events, but emphasized that the case is still active and ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.
