A Florida man was taken into custody Sunday after allegedly chasing and shooting at another man who was test-driving a motorcycle in Lake County, authorities said.
Isaiah MacDonald now faces several charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, and firing a gun from a moving vehicle, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. He also faces drug-related charges after deputies reportedly found narcotics and paraphernalia during a vehicle search.
The incident began when the victim, who was taking a motorcycle out for a test ride, noticed a white Jeep Cherokee following him closely, WOFL reported.

According to an arrest affidavit, the victim described the Jeep as “staying on his tail” and driving aggressively. Fearing for his safety, the man accelerated and made multiple turns to try to shake the SUV. Despite his efforts, the Jeep continued to pursue him.
At one point, the victim told deputies, the driver pointed a firearm out of the window. Moments later, he heard two gunshots. The victim said he recognized the driver as MacDonald, explaining that the two had once been friends while growing up but had not stayed in contact for years.
Following the encounter, the victim showed deputies a text message he received after the chase. The message from MacDonald asked, “When’s a good time to come over?” When the victim confronted him by text about the shooting, MacDonald denied any involvement.
Deputies later located MacDonald, who again denied responsibility. Investigators said his explanation was inconsistent with the evidence. During the stop, deputies observed a box of ammunition in the vehicle. MacDonald eventually consented to a search of the Jeep, which uncovered additional ammunition, drugs, and drug paraphernalia, according to the report.

The Sheriff’s Office charged MacDonald with multiple offenses tied to the chase and shooting, as well as drug possession. Despite the seriousness of the accusations, MacDonald was released Monday on bond, Law&Crime reported.
No injuries were reported in connection with the incident, though the victim told deputies he feared for his life during the pursuit. The case has now been forwarded to prosecutors, who will review the evidence and determine whether additional charges will be filed.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has not released further details about what may have motivated the alleged confrontation between the two men, who once knew each other but had not spoken in years.
