A family’s world has been shattered after their 7-month-old daughter, Elizah, was fatally attacked by one of their pit bulls at their home in Columbus, Ohio. The horrifying incident unfolded on Wednesday morning, April 9, just days after the family had moved into what was supposed to be their new beginning.
Elizah’s father, Kameron Turner, poured out his grief on Facebook, writing, “I’d give my life to bring my baby back.” His emotional posts have touched hearts across social media, with one heartbreaking message urging parents: “Please everyone who has babies hold them tight and never leave their side. This pain is so unbearable.”
Police informed People magazine that the body cam footage showed officers arriving at the scene around 11:30 am. A man at the home told officers one of the dogs was locked in a car, but two others were still on the property. The situation was tense and chaotic. Just minutes later, at 11:43 am, the infant was pronounced dead.
Authorities confirmed that one of the parents initially rushed Elizah to a nearby fire station. She was then transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where Dr. Jennifer Melvin officially declared her deceased shortly after arrival, reported the Mirror.

Franklin Animal Control is now leading the investigation and has taken all three pit bulls—Kilo, Kane, and Kash—into custody. It’s still unclear which dog was responsible for the attack.
In another emotional post, Turner shared how the family had been hopeful for their fresh start in a new home, writing, “We have a long road ahead of us, and I really don’t understand why God puts us through this s***. It’s gonna be the worse road ahead of us.” His words show the raw pain of a father trying to make sense of an unimaginable loss.
He added, “I just don’t understand why people who do right have to go through this pain,” as friends, loved ones, and strangers alike offered their support.
The family, who also have a four-year-old son, are now navigating life without their baby girl. Fundraisers have been launched to help them cover funeral costs and begin the slow journey of healing.
According to Animals 24-7, this heartbreaking incident marks the fourth deadly pit bull attack on an infant in just a month—pushing the total number of dog attack-related deaths in the U.S. this year to 22.
