26-year-old Fast Food Worker Kills Manager at Michigan McDonald’s Following Early Send-Home

A 26-year-old McDonald’s employee in Eastpointe, Michigan, allegedly stabbed her shift manager to death Thursday morning after being sent home early following a workplace argument. The victim, identified by family as 39-year-old Jennifer Harris, a mother of six, succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital.

The violent incident unfolded around 8 a.m. at the McDonald’s on 9 Mile Road. According to Eastpointe police, Harris had sent the younger employee home after a dispute. The suspect later returned armed with a knife and wearing a mask, attacking Harris in the restaurant.

“The suspect stopped stabbing the victim. She dropped the knife and started running away,” said Detective Lt. Alexander Holish. “The good Samaritan actually showed courage by running after the suspect and was able to detain her until officers arrived.” That witness—a drive-thru customer who fired a warning shot during the attack—prevented the suspect from escaping.

Harris’s eldest daughter, Antonia Griffin, expressed shock at the brutal killing. “She was so good to everybody; a hard-working woman. My momma was even good to her,” Griffin said, told Detroit ABC affiliate WXYZ. “We met the lady and everything. I don’t understand why she had to kill her.”

Co-workers described Harris as a kind and dedicated manager. “I’m shocked. I couldn’t believe it. I was devastated,” said employee Kelly McAlpine. “I never would have thought something like this was going to happen there.”

Restaurant owner Yusef Alcodray released a statement calling the attack “deeply saddening” and emphasizing that “violence of any kind is unacceptable.” The location remains closed indefinitely as police investigate.

Macomb County prosecutors are reviewing the case for potential charges. Authorities urge witnesses to contact Eastpointe police at 586-445-9415. The senseless killing has left a family without their beloved matriarch and a workplace traumatized by unexpected brutality.
