17-Year-Old Girl Charged with Double Murder After Parents Are Found Shot in Bed

A 17-year-old girl has been charged with the brutal killings of her mother and stepfather, shocking a quiet Georgia community and leaving investigators searching for answers in what authorities are calling a “horrific and sad case.”

Sarah Grace Patrick is accused of murdering her mother, 41-year-old Kristin Brock, and her stepfather, 45-year-old James Brock, in an incident that occurred in February. On Tuesday, Patrick turned herself in after being notified of outstanding arrest warrants. She now faces two counts of murder and two counts of aggravated assault and will be tried as an adult.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office said that on February 20, deputies were called to a home where they discovered the couple shot to death in their bed. The chilling discovery was made by their 6-year-old daughter, who then alerted authorities.

According to officials, it was Patrick herself who placed the 911 call. What prompted the violence remains under investigation. “We don’t know what goes through the mind of a child who wants to harm their parents,” said Carroll County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Ashley Hulsey. “It is a very horrific and sad case.”

Authorities have not yet released a possible motive, and the investigation remains active. Officials say additional arrests may still be made as they continue to gather evidence and speak with those close to the family. The double homicide stunned residents of Carroll County, a community not accustomed to violent crime, especially involving juveniles and within a family home.

Kristin and James Brock were described by neighbors as friendly and devoted parents. The tragedy has drawn attention to the family’s background and raised questions about what may have been going on behind closed doors. The fact that Patrick is being charged as an adult adds a serious legal dimension to the case, signaling that prosecutors view the crime with the utmost severity.

Legal analysts say that, if convicted, she could face life in prison. As the case unfolds, grief grips the community, and support has poured in for the surviving 6-year-old child, who not only lost her parents but also witnessed the immediate aftermath of the violence. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward. The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate, vowing to uncover the full truth behind the tragic loss of life.
