Police Scotland confirmed on Sunday evening that a 17-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the incident. They stressed that inquiries are still ongoing and have launched a full investigation led by the Major Investigations Team, the Independent reported.

Detective Chief Inspector Campbell Jackson, who is leading the case, has urged the public to assist with the investigation. He revealed that several individuals were believed to be filming the scene on their phones during the disturbance and may have captured vital evidence.

“An extensive investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding this death,” said DCI Jackson. “Our officers are supporting the boy’s family at this very difficult and heartbreaking time.”

He added, “From our investigation so far, we know there were a number of people on the beach around the time of the disturbance. We believe several of them were filming at the time and may have footage of what happened.”

“I would urge people to review the footage they have and contact police if they think the footage captured could be of significance to our investigation.” To facilitate the public’s cooperation, Police Scotland has set up a dedicated website where individuals can submit information or upload footage directly to investigators. Submissions can be made anonymously.
