Nicola Peltz has been ordered by a judge to appear for a court deposition in connection with the heartbreaking death of her pet chihuahua, Nala, following a controversial mobile grooming session earlier this year. The actress and wife of Brooklyn Beckham filed a lawsuit in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, located in Westchester County, against HoundSpa, a mobile dog grooming company, alleging that their negligence led to Nala’s untimely death.
The dog was reportedly the beloved pet of the Beckham family’s estranged daughter-in-law. According to legal documents obtained by InTouch Weekly, a judge has mandated that Peltz must sit for a deposition before October 30. This development follows the groomer’s denial of any wrongdoing in the case, as the legal battle continues to unfold.
The lawsuit specifically names groomer Jony Ceballos, whom Peltz accuses of having a documented history of mistreating animals. As reported by TMZ, Peltz claims that Ceballos has been involved in “intentional and malicious abuse of dogs”—a charge the groomer strongly denies.
In addition to testifying under oath, Peltz will also be required to authorize the release of Nala’s medical records related to the incident. These documents could be critical in establishing a timeline and medical explanation for the dog’s sudden illness and subsequent death.
The tragic case has gained widespread attention due to the high-profile nature of the individuals involved. Peltz, the daughter of billionaire businessman Nelson Peltz, married Brooklyn Beckham, son of soccer legend David Beckham and fashion designer Victoria Beckham, in a lavish ceremony in 2022. The couple’s relationship with the Beckham family has reportedly been strained in recent months.
While the emotional weight of the case is undeniable, the legal proceedings are expected to delve into whether HoundSpa and its employee followed industry standards during the grooming session, and whether there is evidence of negligence or misconduct. At this stage, HoundSpa and Ceballos continue to maintain their innocence, stating they acted appropriately and professionally during their brief time with Nala.
With a court-ordered deposition looming and medical records soon to be disclosed, the case is poised to intensify as it moves forward. Both sides are expected to present evidence and testimonies that will shed light on what truly happened to Nala during the grooming appointment that has since sparked a deeply emotional and legal confrontation.
