Kesha Launches Independent Record Label, Declares Industry Should Be ‘Terrified’ of Her

Kesha has sent a bold message to the music industry. As she unveiled her own record label to release her latest single “Joyride” and her upcoming sixth studio album, expected in 2025, the singer made it clear she plans to shake things up.

In an exclusive interview with Elle, the Blow hitmaker didn’t hold back, saying, “The music industry should be f*ing terrified of me because I’m about to make some major moves and shift this sh.” Kesha emphasized that her goal is to dismantle outdated structures in the industry and ensure no one else endures the hardships she has faced. “I really want to dismantle it piece by piece and shine light into every corner. I hope my legacy is making sure it never happens to anybody ever again,” she said.

Kesha also shared how liberating it feels to be independent after finally breaking free from her six-album contract with producer Dr. Luke, known for working with artists like Katy Perry, Doja Cat, and Kelly Clarkson. “I’m free and it feels good,” the TiK ToK star revealed, noting that she keeps a reminder on her phone that reads, “You’re free.”

The creation of her own record label is, in Kesha’s words, a “feminist act of defiance” and a direct response to the trauma she experienced during her lengthy legal battle. Kesha’s legal conflict with Dr. Luke, which lasted nearly a decade, had a significant impact on her career and personal life.

“I really think that my joy is such a feminist act of defiance,” Kesha explained. She also extended her gratitude to fans and fellow survivors who supported her along the way. “To everyone who has supported me, and to anyone who’s a survivor out there, know that the energy of support toward me also flows through me to you.”

Kesha’s new chapter as an independent artist symbolizes her reclaiming power in an industry that has, at times, been unforgiving. With her eyes set on reshaping the music business, her upcoming projects are sure to reflect her newfound freedom and resilience.
