Jessie J is getting raw and real with her fans. The 36-year-old singer took to Instagram on Tuesday, June 3, to share some deeply personal news — she’s been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. It’s the kind of post that stops you in your tracks, but in true Jessie fashion, she somehow delivered it with honesty, strength, and even a few laughs.
In a video she posted, Jessie opened up about the internal struggle she faced about whether or not to go public with her diagnosis. But ultimately, she decided to keep it real with the people who’ve been on this ride with her from the start. “I want to share it with my fans and the people that care about me, and also, I’m a sharer. I’ve always shared everything that I go through in my life,” she said, reported PEOPLE.
She revealed that right before releasing her song No Secrets in April, she found out about the diagnosis. “I’m highlighting the word early. Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word early,” she shared, trying to focus on the positive in the middle of what’s obviously an emotional storm. She’s been going through constant tests and evaluations, and said she realized that talking about it might actually help her process everything.

“I’m not processing it because I’m working so hard,” she admitted. “I also know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support, and also their own stories.”
Her support system has been strong, especially with her partner, Chanan Safir Colman, by her side. The couple welcomed their son, Sky, in May 2023. Jessie recently gushed over Chanan, saying, “He has exceeded my expectations as a father beyond my imagination. I’m so grateful that he is so present and just so willing to adapt around obviously my career.”
Even while facing something as serious as cancer, Jessie still kept her humor intact. She joked about her upcoming surgery, saying, “It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job.” She plans to take a break after her performance at Capital’s Summertime Ball on June 15 and added with a smile, “I’m getting to keep [my] nipples,” calling that “good.”
In the caption of her post, she looked back on how the last two months had been a mix of amazing highs and scary moments behind the scenes. And of course, she ended it with more signature humor: “No (more) Secrets and is it too soon to do a remix called ‘Living my breast life’? Also not getting massive t***. Or am I? No no… I must stop joking.”
Support from fans and fellow celebs poured in immediately. Rita Ora wrote a heartfelt comment, referencing her own mom’s breast cancer battle and reminding Jessie she’s not alone. “You’ve got this,” she said. Amber Riley chimed in with, “I’m praying for you.” Others, like Gaby Roslin and Jahnavi Harrison, sent love and encouragement, and one fan summed it up best with, “You are the strongest person Jess. Sending you so much love and light for your healthy healing.”
