Sean Diddy Combs to Remain in Prison Until 2028 After Conviction

Sean “Diddy” Combs is expected to stay behind bars until May 8, 2028, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. The 55-year-old music mogul was sentenced earlier this month to four years and two months in prison after being convicted on two counts related to prostitution.

The former Bad Boy Records CEO pleaded not guilty to all charges and continues to deny any wrongdoing. His legal team has already filed a notice of appeal with the Federal District Court in New York, seeking to overturn both the conviction and the sentence.

The verdict followed an eight-week trial held in July, which ended with a partial acquittal. While Combs was found guilty of two prostitution-related charges, he was cleared of more serious allegations, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.

According to court documents, Combs will likely serve just over three years in custody when accounting for the 13 months he has already spent behind bars since his arrest in 2024.

Combs is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. The facility, known for its overcrowded conditions and limited resources, has drawn criticism from defense attorneys representing other high-profile inmates.

The music producer’s attorneys have argued that Combs is enduring “severe and inhumane” conditions while awaiting the outcome of his appeal. They have also claimed that he has been kept under heightened supervision due to safety concerns.

Combs, one of the most influential figures in hip-hop and business, saw his career and reputation collapse following his arrest. Once celebrated for building the Bad Boy Records empire and launching the careers of artists like The Notorious B.I.G. and Faith Evans, he now faces years away from the public eye as his legal battles continue.

His defense team remains confident that his conviction will be overturned. “Mr. Combs maintains his innocence and looks forward to clearing his name through the appeals process,” one of his lawyers said in a statement following sentencing.

If his appeal fails, Combs will complete his term in 2028 and serve an additional five years of supervised release. For now, the man once known as Puff Daddy remains in federal custody as one of the music industry’s most dramatic legal sagas continues to unfold.
