Porsha Williams breaks silence over marriage to ex Simon Guobadia

Porsha Williams is setting the record straight about her short-lived marriage to Simon Guobadia, addressing head-on the rumors and speculation that have swirled since their whirlwind romance ended. In a candid interview with PEOPLE, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star opened up about the biggest misconceptions surrounding her relationship with Guobadia, particularly the belief that their love wasn’t genuine.

“People really thought it was fake!” Williams exclaimed. “They thought I was just in it for the money, and none of our love was really real.” The 44-year-old reality star acknowledges that their lavish lifestyle—private jets, exotic getaways, and not one but two opulent weddings—may have fueled public skepticism. One ceremony took place in Nigeria, and the other was in Atlanta.

Both were heavily featured on social media. But Williams insists those images didn’t capture the full truth. “Look, you’re not going to really get to know us from Instagram,” she said. She had been preparing to reintroduce herself on Real Housewives after a three-year break, this time alongside Guobadia. However, before cameras began rolling, she filed for divorce.

“And I know the fans, they were excited to see Porsha Guobadia on Housewives. Okay, listen — I was, too,” she admitted. “We were going to have so much fun, and we were preparing for it together and all that! But life happened.” As rumors of gold-digging motives persisted, Williams defended her reputation as a successful entrepreneur.

“The people who thought I just got with him because he had money, maybe those people are new to Housewives or don’t have Google or haven’t looked up anything I’ve ever done, because I’ve always been a businesswoman,” she said. “Now, was it great that Simon took me and put me on that jet? Yes, honey! Was our lifestyle beautiful? You bet it was. But that’s not the reason I was with Simon. I make my own coins.”

Williams owns several businesses, including Go Naked Hair, Pampered by Porsha, and her YouTube channel, Porsha4Real. Despite the emotional toll of their breakup, she emphasizes the authenticity of their relationship. “We really loved each other,” she said tearfully.

“And it’s sad. The hardest part is that we are in this place and that we are not friends, and we don’t speak.” Reflecting on the pain of losing a deep connection, she concluded, “And I guess that I’ll have to care from afar, and that’s okay. And I’m okay with that.”
