So, it turns out all that whispering about Meghan Markle and Gwyneth Paltrow being at odds is just gossip. The Iron Man actress cleared the air in a recent chat with People magazine at the Mindvalley Manifesting Summit on 17 May, putting a friendly spin on things and firmly squashing any feud talk.
Speaking casually about her relationship with the Duchess of Sussex, Gwyneth said, “We have a text friendship so far. I’ve been travelling quite a bit.” Not exactly weekly brunches in Montecito, but the two are clearly on good terms and keeping in touch.

As for the supposed tension between the pair, especially with both being influential women with their lifestyle brands, Gwyneth wasn’t having any of it. “I don’t like that, when people try to pit women against each other,” she said. It’s not the first time she’s brushed off the idea of women needing to compete. Back in March, during an interview with Vanity Fair, she said, “Another woman is never your competition,” adding, “Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try.” It’s a classy message that cuts through the usual tabloid noise.

During the same People interview, Gwyneth was asked whether she’d ever consider appearing on Meghan’s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan. Her answer? Surprisingly open: “Sure! Why not? You never know. I don’t bake that well, but I can always try.” That blend of laid-back humour and willingness pretty much says it all—no drama here.
The pair even poked fun at the feud rumours themselves back in March during a playful Instagram Q&A. Meghan unexpectedly popped up in the background while Gwyneth was filming, sharing a laugh and showing fans there’s no bad blood.

Both women live in Montecito, a town known for its serene vibe and natural beauty, and Gwyneth thinks the setting might be helping their friendship flourish. “It’s just got that very special, calm beauty and lots of nature,” she said. “It’s nice.”
So, if you were hoping for some celebrity showdown in Santa Barbara, you might be disappointed. But if you’re here for two high-profile women supporting each other quietly over text and maybe bonding over bad baking, you’re in luck.
