Mariah Carey Breaks Silence on Last-Minute Pennsylvania Show Cancellation

Mariah Carey has canceled her scheduled performance in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, due to flu symptoms. The announcement came just hours before her concert, leaving fans disappointed but understanding. On Wednesday, the 55-year-old icon took to her X (formerly Twitter) account to deliver the news.

“Pittsburgh, I am sorry to say, I’ve come down with the flu,” Carey wrote. “It breaks my heart that I unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. I love you all so much.”

The cancellation affected her highly anticipated performance at Pittsburgh’s PPG Paints Arena, part of her ongoing Christmas Time tour. Known as the Queen of Christmas, Carey’s annual holiday tour has become a cherished tradition for fans worldwide.

The disappointing news follows a celebratory moment for Carey earlier this week when her beloved holiday anthem, All I Want for Christmas Is You, reclaimed the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Carey marked the achievement during her December 9 show in Raleigh, North Carolina, where she brought her twins, Moroccan and Monroe, on stage to share in the celebration.

“Last night on stage in Raleigh, North Carolina, I found out that All I Want For Christmas Is You returned to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100,” Carey captioned a heartfelt Instagram post on Tuesday. She included a video clip showing her joy and gratitude during the performance.

“I couldn’t have dreamed of a better time or place to celebrate the news than on stage with my amazing fans, my kids, and my #Christmastime tour family. I love you and am so grateful to you all, M,” she added.

Despite her illness, Carey’s fans flooded social media with well-wishes for her recovery. The Pittsburgh show’s cancellation highlights the challenges artists face while balancing demanding schedules during peak touring seasons, especially amid the holiday rush.

Carey’s Christmas Time tour continues to captivate audiences, and her chart-topping success further cements her legacy as the ultimate holiday icon. While fans in Pittsburgh may have missed out this time, many expressed hope that Carey will return soon to bring her magic to the city once she recovers.
