Hugh Jackman Posts after Ex Reveals Pain of ‘Marriage Ending’

Hugh Jackman has finally broken his silence, and he’s doing it with a bold move that has everyone talking. Just hours after his ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness dropped a brutally honest statement about their split, Jackman fired back—or at least appeared to—with a pointed Instagram video.

In the video shared with his 34.1 million followers, Jackman beams as he dances to NSYNC’s Bye Bye Bye during a performance from his hit one-man show Hugh Jackman: Love from New York with love. Smiling, laughing, and clearly having a good time, it didn’t take long for fans to connect the dots between the song choice and the drama unfolding behind the scenes.

The timing of the post couldn’t have been more eyebrow-raising. On Wednesday, Furness made headlines when she publicly revealed that their seemingly amicable split was actually far more painful than previously known. In a statement published by the Daily Mail, Furness opened up about experiencing “traumatic betrayal” that “cut deep.”

“My heart and compassion goes out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” Furness said. “It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.”

Her words landed with a heavy emotional punch. For nearly two years since announcing their separation, both Jackman, 56, and Furness, 69, had stayed publicly respectful and mostly quiet. But Furness’ latest remarks shattered that quiet front, revealing years of pain behind the scenes.

Furness added that she had “gained much knowledge and wisdom” through “the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage.” She continued, “It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values and boundaries is liberation and freedom.”

She closed the statement on a philosophical note, offering one key lesson: “That none of this is personal.” Despite everything, she said she remained “grateful” for her time with Jackman.

The powerful statement came shortly after Furness officially filed for divorce in New York on May 23. Reports claim the couple reached a private settlement that includes a “handsome spousal support payment.”

Since the split, Jackman appears to have moved on. He has been seen getting cozy with Broadway actress Sutton Foster, with whom he starred in The Music Man from late 2021 through early 2023. The two were spotted kissing in public earlier this year.

A source told Daily Mail that even during their time on stage, the chemistry between the pair was noticeable. “It was odd,” the source said. “In a way it was uncomfortable. As the entire cast is trying to get to their dressing rooms upstairs, we all had to pass the two of them hugging. They didn’t even hide it! It was a long embrace … and it was weird.”

Foster also filed for divorce last year from her husband, Ocean’s Eleven screenwriter Ted Griffin. The couple had been married since 2014 and adopted their daughter, Emily, in 2017.

Now with both actors newly single and stepping into the spotlight together, it seems the next act of Jackman’s life is already well underway.
