Blake Lively Faces $400 Million Lawsuit Over Defamation Claims

Blake Lively is facing a legal battle after Jane the Virgin actor Justin Baldoni filed a $400 million defamation lawsuit, alleging that the actress’s actions caused him significant financial loss. In response, Lively’s legal team is pushing back, requesting detailed financial records from Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios to verify his claims.

Baldoni claims that he lost a substantial amount of money, an estimated $400 million, due to Lively’s actions during the filming of It Ends With Us. To support his case, Lively’s lawyers have demanded access to Baldoni’s financial records, as outlined in documents obtained by Forbes.

The legal team argues that while Baldoni and his attorney have provided “non-privileged documents concerning their damages” in a recent meeting, they have not granted full access to Baldoni’s financial data, which Lively’s team insists is essential to assess the actual financial loss.

This legal dispute is further complicated by the involvement of pop superstar Taylor Swift. Baldoni’s attorneys have subpoenaed Swift to testify in the future trial, which is scheduled for March 2026. Baldoni’s lawsuit includes claims that Lively used Swift’s name as a form of intimidation, referring to the singer as “her dragon” and allegedly threatening him with the influence of the Grammy-winning artist.

However, Swift’s spokesperson quickly dismissed these claims, stating that “Taylor Swift never set foot on the set of this movie.” In light of Swift being summoned to the case, Lively’s attorney, Mike Gottlieb, argued that the singer has no relevant connection to the lawsuit and should not be called to testify.

“This is a case about what happened to Blake Lively when she raised claims of sexual harassment on the set. It’s not a case about how songs were chosen for the movie,” Gottlieb explained. He further criticized Baldoni’s legal team for attempting to drag Swift into the proceedings, stating, “Do they have any actual relevance to the case at hand? You can’t just go around subpoenaing people because they’re famous and you think it will generate a bunch of headlines.”

As the legal drama unfolds, the dispute continues to attract significant public attention, with both Lively’s legal team and Baldoni’s legal representatives preparing for a lengthy court battle. With the trial set for 2026, the tension between the two Hollywood figures shows no signs of easing.
