Ben Affleck recently shared an amusing and candid insight into life as a Hollywood dad, revealing that his children, whom he shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner, are anything but starstruck when it comes to his work on screen.
Appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live this week, the Oscar-winning actor opened up about how his three children, Violet, 19, Finn, 16, and Sam, 13, keep him grounded by being his most brutally honest critics.

“All the kids came to the premiere of The Accountant 2—my kids, step-kids, their friends—it was the whole gang,” Affleck said, recalling the recent family outing. “And I was excited that they wanted to come see it, but my kids… they’re very tough. They don’t censor their criticism.”
The actor revealed that his children don’t hold back when it comes to voicing their opinions—even mid-movie. “They’ll sit next to me while I’m watching something I’m in, and say, ‘This is terrible. This is terrible, why did you do this?’” he said, laughing. “And I’m like, ‘You could wait until the end of the movie, at least.’ But no.”
Affleck, who is known for his roles in critically acclaimed films such as Good Will Hunting, Argo, and Gone Girl, has clearly learned to take the playful jabs in stride. But this time around, the feedback was surprisingly positive, told HELLO!.

“This time, they liked it,” he said with a hint of disbelief, referring to The Accountant 2. “I was genuinely shocked. I asked them, ‘What’s the catch?’ Like, is this a joke?”
According to Affleck, even his kids seemed surprised that they enjoyed the film. “They said, ‘Yeah, it was good.’ And they were shocked themselves. As if somehow, I got really lucky—like this magical accident happened and something I did was actually OK.”

The actor’s candid comments offered a humorous look at what life is like in the Affleck household, where even an A-list career isn’t safe from a teenager’s unfiltered opinion. Affleck’s remarks struck a chord with the audience and viewers at home, reminding fans that, at the end of the day, even the biggest stars are just parents trying to impress their kids.
And while Hollywood critics may weigh in with awards and accolades, it seems the only reviews Ben Affleck truly cares about come from the couch at home.
