Congresswoman Lauren Boebert Announces Candidacy in Colorado’s 4th District, Prioritizing Conservative Values

Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, a Republican from Colorado, has declared her intention to run for the GOP nomination in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District, a move seen as strategically positioning herself in a more Republican-leaning area. This decision comes after her narrow victory in the 3rd Congressional District during the 2022 midterms, where she won by less than 600 votes against a Democratic contender.

The 4th District, previously represented by Republican Rep. Ken Buck who decided not to run for re-election, is considered a stronghold for the GOP. In contrast, Boebert’s current district was a highly competitive area. Boebert emphasized the alignment of this move with her personal goals and the interests of her conservative supporters.

The Cook Political Report with Amy Walter categorizes her new district as “solidly Republican,” a significant shift from her current “toss-up” district. Boebert plans to relocate to the 4th District next year, which spans the rural eastern parts of Colorado, including areas east of Denver.

The congresswoman had been gearing up for a potential rematch with Democrat Adam Frisch, a former Aspen City Council member, in a district increasingly targeted by Democratic campaigns. Frisch, who has already begun his campaign for the 2024 election, expressed his commitment to representing rural Colorado and addressing local issues.

Boebert, in a recent video, also acknowledged personal challenges she has faced, including an incident at a “Beetlejuice” performance where she was removed for disruptive behavior. She described these experiences as humbling and emphasized her accountability and growth from these events.
