Wisconsin Man Fatally Shoots Father During Argument, Ex-Girlfriend and Stepdaughter Witnesses

A fatal shooting on Milwaukee’s South Side has taken a deeply personal turn as new details emerge about the family dispute that ended with a father dead and his son behind bars. The incident took place on Thursday in the 1900 block of S. 16 Street, where 49-year-old Miguel Angel Roman Arocho was shot and killed shortly before 6:36 p.m.

His son, 28-year-old Miguel Angel Ocasio, was taken into custody that same evening as part of the preliminary homicide investigation. An update from November 18, 2025, shows that Ocasio has now been charged with one felony count of first-degree reckless homicide with the use of a dangerous weapon.

If convicted, he faces up to 60 years in prison. That sentence includes the possibility of 40 years of initial confinement and 20 years of extended supervision, according to Milwaukee County court records. A criminal complaint and earlier testimony shared by Ninoska Valentin, 34, shed more light on the events that led to the shooting.

Valentin, Roman Arocho’s stepdaughter, told Telemundo Wisconsin that Ocasio fatally shot his father during a heated confrontation. According to her account, she had been sitting in a car talking with a friend about her lost cellphone when Ocasio approached and started an argument. She exited the vehicle, and the dispute escalated quickly.

Hearing the commotion, Roman Arocho stepped out of the home and tried to protect Valentin. She said Ocasio and his father began arguing about previous conflicts between them. Valentin then saw Ocasio pull out a handgun and fire several shots into the air. Roman Arocho briefly retreated inside the home, then came out again and placed himself between Valentin and Ocasio, who were still clashing verbally.

At that moment, Ocasio allegedly aimed the gun and fired multiple shots, striking his father. Roman Arocho died at the scene. Valentin later spoke about Roman Arocho’s final moments, calling him her hero for stepping in to keep her safe when tensions flared. She said he always tried to protect her, and in her eyes, he died doing exactly that.

Now, Valentin is asking for justice. She wants Ocasio held accountable for killing his father and hopes the legal process brings closure to their family. Her statements to Telemundo Wisconsin reflect the grief and anger that continue to ripple through those who loved Roman Arocho.

The case remains active as Ocasio awaits trial, with the December court date set to determine his future and the consequences of the deadly confrontation.
