Prince William is said to be pleased with King Charles III’s decision to permanently distance Prince Andrew from royal duties and restrict his role within the family. The move reportedly marks a decisive moment in how the monarchy handles one of its most controversial figures.
According to royal expert Emily Ferguson, writing for The Express, the Prince of Wales had long opposed the idea of Prince Andrew continuing to live or appear regularly at Windsor Estate. William, 42, is said to feel relieved that his father has now taken firm action to resolve the ongoing issue surrounding his uncle’s position.
“William and his family have, of course, spent the last week trying to take a break from the Andrew drama, as they enjoyed some family time with their three children over half term,” Ferguson wrote. “And although his father has been keeping him up to date with negotiations, for the most part, the prince kept a healthy distance between himself and the final outcome due to his fondness for his cousins.”

The report adds that while Prince William remained informed, he chose not to intervene directly out of respect for family ties. However, sources suggest he quietly supported a tougher stance toward Andrew, who has been at the center of controversy for several years due to his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
“It’s no secret that he advocated a firm approach and is said to be ‘delighted’ that his father finally came down on his brother with an iron fist,” Ferguson noted.
King Charles’s decision reportedly involves limiting Prince Andrew’s public presence and reviewing his privileges at Windsor. Although Andrew continues to live at the Royal Lodge, discussions about his future residence and finances have been ongoing for months.

The Duke of York, 64, stepped back from public duties in 2019 following widespread backlash over his BBC interview addressing his ties to Epstein. Despite maintaining his innocence, Andrew has largely been excluded from official royal events since then, with both King Charles and Prince William determined to protect the monarchy’s reputation.
While the issue has strained family relations, insiders say both the King and his heir agree that preserving the credibility of the Crown must come first.
For now, William is reportedly satisfied that his father’s decision sends a clear message about accountability within the royal family—a stance the future king is said to fully support.
