Texas Man Kills Three in Shooting Rampage Before Crashing Into Buc-ee’s and Taking Own Life

A man suspected of killing three people in a Mabank home early Friday morning is in critical condition after he allegedly struck a woman with his vehicle at a Buc-ees store and then turned the gun on himself. The violent series of events has left communities across two Texas counties in shock.

According to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a residence on the 7000 block of Broken Bow Drive in the Cedar Creek Cove subdivision around 230 a.m. Inside the home, they discovered a horrific scene with multiple victims who had been shot.

Two individuals, a man and a woman, were pronounced dead at the scene. A third victim later succumbed to injuries at a hospital in Gun Barrel City. The violence did not end there. Just hours after the initial shooting, the suspect was identified as 29-year-old Christopher Kyle Reid Jr. from Hubbard, according to WFAA.

Authorities say Reid drove to a Buc-ees store in Ennis at approximately 5 a.m. There, he struck a female customer with his vehicle, pinning her against a sales display. The Ennis Police Department reported that after the vehicle came to a stop, Reid shot himself in the head.

The woman who was hit was transported to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Reid was rushed to a separate hospital in critical condition. A release from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Reid was known to the people inside the Mabank home, though the precise nature of their relationship remains unclear and under investigation.

The incident also left two other men injured from gunshot wounds at the original crime scene. They were transported to a hospital in Tyler for treatment, though their current conditions have not been publicly released. The investigation into the motive and the full sequence of events is ongoing.
