Chrissy Teigen Opens Up About Ozempic Use and Lessons on Self-Acceptance

Chrissy Teigen has spoken candidly about her experience using the weight loss drug Ozempic, saying she wanted to be open about her journey after suffering a pregnancy loss five years ago. The model and television personality revealed that her decision to share came from a desire to help others feel more comfortable in their own skin.

“I knew it would resonate,” Teigen said in a new interview with People. “Since the beginning of social media, I’ve always wanted people to know that things weren’t as fluffy and beautiful as they may seem.”

The 39-year-old, who is married to singer John Legend, explained that honesty has always been part of her approach to fame. “I knew it would really resonate and make a lot of people feel a lot better about their families, themselves, their own bodies,” she said.

Teigen has long been open about her struggles with body image and grief. After losing her son Jack in 2020, she shared her pain publicly, earning both praise and criticism for her transparency. Now, she says her openness about using Ozempic comes from the same place — a belief that honesty helps others feel less alone.

“I wanted to help people feel a lot better about themselves,” she explained, adding that the conversation about body image should include both the challenges and choices people make to feel healthy and confident.

Teigen also spoke about how she’s raising her four children, Luna, Miles, Esti, and Wren, to be open about their insecurities rather than trying to appear perfect. “I would want my daughter [Luna] or son, if Miles wants to venture into hair plug territory or something, I would want them to know that it’s not about pretending to be perfect, it’s about being open and honest about what it feels to make you feel better,” she said.

She emphasized that striving for perfection can be emotionally unfulfilling. “It’s not about striving for perfection, because it doesn’t make anybody else feel emotionally happy at the end of the day,” she noted. “It’ll never truly fulfill you.

But people are going to make their own decisions about their bodies and what will make them feel healthy and safe and proud of themselves, and everybody has a right to do those things.” Through her openness, Teigen hopes to continue challenging unrealistic beauty expectations and encourage a more compassionate view of self-care and body confidence.
