Diddy’s Family Pleads for Leniency as Rapper Faces Sentencing in Sexual Misconduct Case

Sean “Diddy” Combs is making a final push to secure leniency before his upcoming sentencing, with family and friends appealing to the court on his behalf. The 55-year-old music mogul was arrested in September 2024 after being convicted of sexual harassment and two charges of transportation to engage in prostitution.

Since his arrest, his legal team has filed multiple bail applications, but each request was denied by Judge Subramanian. Prosecutors previously argued that Combs should face at least four to five years in prison. On Monday, however, his attorneys contested the probation department’s recommendation of 70 to 87 months, claiming the calculation was “infected with errors” and “grossly overstates the seriousness of the offense.”

Combs’ sentencing is scheduled for October 3. In the meantime, his legal team has submitted letters from family members urging the court to consider his personal growth and to show leniency.

His mother made a heartfelt plea in one letter, writing, “I don’t know how much longer I will be around, but I would love to be able to see him and his children together again.”

The defense team emphasized Combs’ efforts to address personal struggles, noting that his behavior has improved significantly since he sought sobriety. “Since tapering off Xanax, quitting alcohol, and illicit substances, his angry actions have disappeared,” his lawyers said.

His adopted sister echoed this sentiment in another letter, crediting his progress in recovery. “The dark veil of addiction, confusion, and the chaos of his life is gone,” she wrote. She explained that sobriety had changed his behavior in meaningful ways and that she had witnessed positive effects firsthand.

Family members stressed that Combs’ recent changes demonstrate a commitment to rehabilitation and argued that his personal transformation should be taken into account during sentencing. Supporters maintain that he has shown “personal growth and positive personality traits” since his arrest.

While prosecutors stand firm on their calls for a significant prison term, Combs’ lawyers hope the judge will balance accountability with compassion. They argue that his past struggles with addiction played a role in his actions, but that he is now on a different path.

With sentencing only days away, the battle between prosecutors pushing for a lengthy prison term and a defense team advocating for leniency underscores the high stakes for one of hip-hop’s most recognized figures.
