Prince William reportedly believes the chances of reconciling with his brother, Prince Harry, remain slim. The Prince of Wales is said to have accepted that he will not play a role in ongoing peace efforts between Harry and their father, King Charles.
According to a source who spoke with The Mirror, William feels his brother’s choices have made reconciliation difficult. “William feels Harry has repeatedly chosen public exposure over private resolution and that the Royal Family can’t keep being dragged into the headlines every time there’s a new contract to promote,” the source said.
The insider added, “The issue with Harry, as well as Meghan, is one of trust. Ever since moving to North America, they have eroded all confidence in their ability to keep things or their criticisms private. For there to be any chance of moving forward, that trust has to be rebuilt, and Team Sussex knows the onus is on them.”

Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, stepped back from royal duties in 2020, relocating first to Canada and later to California with their son, Prince Archie. Their decision was followed by a series of high-profile interviews and television specials, during which they criticized the Royal Family and accused members of racism toward their son.
The couple’s public airing of grievances further strained already fragile family ties, and trust has been a central issue ever since. Harry and Meghan have since welcomed a daughter, Princess Lilibet, and focused on building their life in the United States, where they pursue media projects and philanthropic work.
Royal watchers note that while King Charles has shown a willingness to keep communication lines open with Harry, William remains far more skeptical. The heir to the throne is described as wary of renewed engagement, believing that any private discussions risk becoming public fodder.

Analysts suggest William’s stance underscores the ongoing divide within the family. Despite occasional speculation about potential reconciliation, the deep mistrust appears to outweigh any short-term gestures of goodwill. With Harry and Meghan continuing to live in California and pursue independent ventures, the geographical and emotional distance between them and the Royal Family has only grown.
As it stands, insiders indicate that meaningful progress will only be possible if Harry and Meghan demonstrate a long-term commitment to rebuilding trust. For now, Prince William is said to have little confidence that such a shift is on the horizon.
