Pete Davidson is officially going to be a dad, and he’s over the moon about it. The comedian and actor finally opened up about the big news after his girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, confirmed she’s expecting their first child together.
While chatting with E! News at the New York City premiere of The Home on Tuesday, Pete didn’t hold back on his excitement. “I’m very lucky and very, very happy,” he said with a big grin.
He also got candid about what fatherhood means to him, especially coming from a past that wasn’t always easy. “Being able to take care of something and show it the childhood I didn’t have,” he said, when asked what he’s looking forward to most. “I assume you just try to give them what you didn’t have, and what you didn’t like, not do it.”
That kind of honesty is peak Pete — real, a little rough around the edges, but heartfelt. This is something he’s wanted for a while.
And he’s not going it alone. Pete said his circle of close friends has been nothing but encouraging, including comedy legend Adam Sandler, who shared some parenting wisdom.

“Everybody’s just been super excited for me, because they know it’s been my dream,” Pete explained.
“They all just have been like, ‘You’re going to be great at this. It’s the best thing you’ll ever do in your life,’” he said, clearly moved by the support. “Sandler gave me some great advice.”
Though Pete didn’t spill exactly what Sandler told him, you could tell the moment meant a lot. For a guy who’s been in the spotlight for everything from his dating life to his mental health, this chapter feels a little different — it feels grounded.
“It’s been really nice that everyone’s super excited,” he added. “When you do something, when we do anything, you want everyone to be excited, especially having a child.”
With a baby on the way and a new movie premiering, Pete’s life is hitting some major milestones. He’s doing it all with that signature mix of humor and heart — and from the way he’s talking, fatherhood just might be his favorite role yet.
