Jax Taylor, a prominent figure in Bravo’s reality TV world, has officially announced that he will not return for season 3 of The Valley, citing a need to focus on his sobriety, mental health, and role as a father. As reported by Variety on Wednesday, July 16, the 46-year-old reality star shared a heartfelt statement confirming his departure from the show.
“After an incredibly challenging year and many honest conversations with my team and producers, I’ll be stepping away from the next season of The Valley,” Taylor said. He explained that the decision, while difficult, is rooted in personal growth and family responsibilities. Taylor shares a son, Cruz, with his estranged wife, Brittany Cartwright.
The couple announced their separation earlier this year after months of public speculation about their relationship. “Right now, my focus needs to be on my sobriety, my mental health, and coparenting relationship,” he continued. “Taking this time is necessary for me to become the best version of myself, especially for our son, Cruz.”
The news of Taylor’s exit was first reported by Us Weekly and quickly circulated through fan communities and entertainment media outlets. Taylor’s public decision follows a deeply personal revelation made earlier this year. In a March podcast appearance, he openly discussed his long-standing battle with substance abuse, specifically cocaine addiction, which he admitted has plagued him since his early 20s.

“It’s hard to say out loud. I’ve been dealing with this on and off since I was 23 and now I’m 45,” Taylor shared. “There were times when I would stop doing it, but then there were times when I’d go heavy on it.” The confession marked a turning point for the Vanderpump Rules alum, who said publicly acknowledging his addiction was a major milestone.
“I’ve never said this in my life,” he added. “So to come out and say that I have an addiction [and] that I have a sickness that I have to work on the rest of my life is a really big deal for me.” Fans of The Valley, a spin-off of Vanderpump Rules, have expressed mixed emotions about his departure.
While his absence may leave a gap in the cast dynamic, many have praised Taylor for prioritizing his health and family over the pressures of reality television. With his focus now squarely on personal healing and fatherhood, Taylor’s next chapter appears to be one of accountability, growth, and reflection.
