Paul Simon’s Daughter Slams Richard Gere for Wrecking Her Childhood Home

American singer Paul Simon’s daughter Lulu Simon is calling out actor Richard Gere in a very public and very personal way. On July 8, Lulu took to Instagram Stories to slam the Pretty Woman star for selling the New Canaan, Connecticut home she grew up in — a place filled with memories, pets, and promises she says were broken.

“Just in case anyone was wondering if I still hate Richard Gere – I do!” she wrote bluntly, layering the text over a selfie and a screenshot of a news article about the home’s pending demolition.

Lulu didn’t hold back, claiming Gere went back on his word after buying the property from her parents, Paul Simon and Edie Brickell, around 2022. “He bought my childhood home. Promised he would take care of the land as condition of his purchase,” she explained.

But according to Lulu, not only did Gere not move in — he ended up selling the property to a developer who plans to split it into nine separate lots. “Proceeded to never actually move in & just sold it to a developer as 9 separate plots,” she added.

The post gets even more emotional as Lulu shares how deeply personal this loss is. Over a photo, she wrote, “I hate him!” making her feelings crystal clear.

Then came the second slide, where she posted a throwback picture of Richard Gere surrounded by cats and dogs. The caption took a sharp turn into darker territory. “I hope my dead pets buried in that backyard haunt you until you descend into a slow and unrelenting madness,” she wrote.

That wasn’t all. She followed up with a meme of a frog staring into a colorful sky, adding, “Time will put your enemies in the ground.” Not exactly subtle, but her anger and heartbreak definitely came through.

For some context, Gere and his wife Alejandra bought the New Canaan property from Simon and Brickell a couple of years ago, and by October 2024, they had sold it for $10.75 million. Fast forward to May of this year, and it was announced that the house would be torn down to make way for a new development of nine homes.

The sale and demolition came after Gere and Alejandra reportedly relocated to Madrid to be closer to their family — which might explain why they didn’t hang on to the Connecticut estate. Still, Lulu is making it clear she feels like something sacred was lost in the transaction.

While Gere hasn’t commented publicly, Lulu’s posts speak volumes about the emotional attachment she had to the home and the pain of watching it get turned into a construction project. For her, it wasn’t just real estate — it was her childhood, her family history, and even the final resting place of beloved pets.

And now, thanks to social media, the world knows exactly how she feels about it.
