Sean “Diddy” Combs Faces Up to 20 Years After Prostitution Conviction

Sean “Diddy” Combs may be facing up to two years in prison following his conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, according to his legal team. However, federal prosecutors have recommended a significantly longer sentence—between 51 and 63 months—arguing that the music mogul still poses a danger to the public.

Both sides outlined their sentencing recommendations in letters submitted to U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, who is presiding over the case. While Combs could legally receive a maximum sentence of 20 years—10 years for each count—his actual sentencing will be determined at a later date.

Combs has already served 10 months in detention, time which may be credited toward his eventual sentence. The rapper and producer was acquitted on more serious federal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy during a hearing held Wednesday, according to Reuters.

Throughout the proceedings, Combs has maintained his innocence, insisting that the drug-fueled encounters involving male escorts were fully consensual. Two of his former girlfriends testified against him during the trial, but the jury ultimately cleared him of the most severe allegations.

In their letter to Judge Subramanian, Combs’ attorneys sought to reassure the court of his intentions if granted bond. They pledged that Combs would refrain from any contact with escorts or prostitutes and requested his release on a $1 million bond. That bond would be co-signed by his mother, sister, and Sarah Chapman, the mother of his eldest daughter, Chance.

However, federal prosecutors strongly opposed any bail arrangement. In their filing, they urged the judge to keep Combs in custody, asserting that he remains a public threat and may continue to engage in illegal behavior if released.

They cited an incident in which Combs allegedly assaulted one of his former girlfriends, referred to during the trial under the pseudonym “Jane,” just three months before his arrest, while he was already under federal investigation. The prosecution’s concerns have so far prevailed. Combs’ bail request was denied, and he remains behind bars as both sides prepare for sentencing.

As the case moves forward, public attention remains fixed on the fallen music icon, whose decades-long career has been overshadowed by the explosive federal trial and its deeply personal revelations.
