A man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after allegedly stabbing the mother of his children multiple times in a brutal attack caught on surveillance video. The incident took place Friday, June 27, around 7:50 p.m., prompting a swift response from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched to a residence in Lake Worth Beach after a 911 caller reported that a woman had been stabbed and was bleeding heavily. When officers arrived, they discovered the victim with multiple stab wounds to her neck and upper body. She was rushed to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where she remains in critical condition.
According to an arrest report, surveillance footage captured the entire assault. The attacker, identified as Courtney Anderson, 25, of Delray Beach, is seen running up to the woman as she arrives home with her two young sons, ages approximately 3 and 5. Anderson allegedly began stabbing her in the head.
After she collapsed, he reportedly stabbed her at least seven more times. Deputies noted the knife appeared to be stuck in the woman’s body at one point during the attack. As the victim attempted to stand, Anderson allegedly stabbed her again in the neck multiple times.
The children, later confirmed to be Anderson’s biological sons, are seen in the video walking over to their mother during the violent incident. Anderson appeared to try to resume the attack once more but stopped when the woman screamed and fled to a neighbor’s home for help.
Roughly 30 minutes later, officers in Atlantis were alerted that a man had walked into JFK Medical Center with a serious cut to his hand. The man was identified as Courtney Anderson. He was wearing the same blood-covered clothing seen in the surveillance video. Deputies also found blood on the steering wheel of the car he had driven to the hospital.
Authorities confirmed that Anderson had been previously arrested in February for domestic battery by strangulation against the same victim. At the time of the attack, he was under an active restraining order and a no-contact order, both of which he allegedly violated.
When questioned by investigators, Anderson claimed he had not been allowed to see his children or the victim since his February arrest, and suspected she was involved with someone else. He told deputies he could not clearly recall the details of the attack.
Anderson is charged with attempted first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, violation of a no-contact order, and aggravated stalking. He is currently being held at the Palm Beach County Jail without bond.
