Kanye Sparks Buzz Again with Rumored New Name: ‘Ye Ye’

Kanye West, the controversial music mogul and Yeezy founder, once again found himself at the center of a media frenzy after rumors swirled that he had changed his name for a second time—this time to “Ye Ye.”

However, the buzz was quickly shut down by his representatives, who clarified that the supposed new name was simply the result of a clerical misunderstanding. The 47-year-old rapper’s spokesperson addressed the confusion on Monday, June 16, telling Page Six, “There is no ‘Ye Ye.’”

According to the representative, the mix-up originated from a technical quirk in an online form used to file business documents. “The faulty impression came as a result of an oddity created by an online form that required something in both first name and last name fields,” they explained.

The confusion began when Page Six obtained California business documents filed by Hussain Lalani, the chief financial officer for the Heartless rapper. The paperwork listed the name “Ye Ye,” leading to speculation that Kanye West had legally altered his moniker once again.

Kanye, who officially changed his name to “Ye” in 2021, recently hinted at distancing himself further from his birth name. Earlier this month, the rapper, who shares four children with ex-wife Kim Kardashian, announced on X (formerly Twitter) that he would be launching a new “ye account,” abandoning his previous handle @kanyewest.

The incident added to the public confusion over his identity, sparking even more interest in the eccentric star’s moves. However, the clarification from his rep makes it clear: “Ye Ye” is not an official name change, just a bureaucratic glitch.

This isn’t the first time the name “Ye” has created complications. During a recent appearance on Piers Morgan Uncensored, the host mistakenly referred to him as “West” instead of “Ye,” triggering a dramatic reaction. The rapper was reportedly so irritated by the misnaming—and by Morgan stating his X follower count as 32 million instead of 33.3 million—that he abruptly ended the interview mid-conversation.

Kanye West, now legally known as Ye, continues to make headlines whether through his music, fashion ventures, or unpredictable public behavior. While this latest episode turned out to be a misunderstanding, it underscores the ongoing media fascination with every aspect of his evolving identity, both personal and professional.
