In typical lively fashion, The View was delightfully thrown off course on Monday morning, thanks to an impromptu sing-along sparked by guest Christie Brinkley, although, to be fair, she wasn’t the one who started it.
The legendary model appeared on the ABC talk show to promote her new book, Uptown Girl, a title inspired in part by her former romantic relationship with singer Billy Joel. During her interview, Brinkley recalled the humorous and slightly embarrassing story of how she first met the music icon.

As Brinkley shared, their first meeting took place at a dive bar, where Joel tried to impress her with his skills at the piano. However, unaware of who he was, Brinkley unintentionally delivered a slight snub.
“Me, not knowing who he was, said ‘The Girl From Ipanema,’” Brinkley recalled with a laugh. “And then he sort of looked at me like, ‘OK?’ And before he could say anything, I said, ‘I just learned the lyrics in Portuguese, hit it!’”
It was that moment that kicked off an unexpected musical interlude in the studio. Host Ana Navarro quietly began singing the lyrics to “The Girl from Ipanema,” prompting Brinkley to leap from her seat and join in, much to the audience’s delight, as told to TheWrap.

Not to be left out, moderator Whoopi Goldberg quickly sprang from her chair, dancing and singing along enthusiastically. While Brinkley eventually returned to her seat, Whoopi kept the spirited sing-along going for a few moments longer, belting out a few more lines and keeping the mood light and festive.
Despite the lively detour, the co-hosts and Brinkley soon returned to the main conversation. Brinkley went on to share another personal story, revealing that she used that same song to help herself manage the pain during labor.

The nostalgic and feel-good moment was a perfect reminder of why The View often charms its audience, blending celebrity interviews with spontaneous, unfiltered moments of joy.
Brinkley’s appearance, filled with laughter and music, also offered a glimpse into the warmth and humor that have long defined her public persona. Her new book, Uptown Girl, is expected to delve deeper into her life experiences, offering fans a personal look at her extraordinary journey through fame, family, and resilience.
As Monday’s show proved, sometimes the most memorable television moments are the ones no one plans for — and Christie Brinkley’s impromptu performance was certainly one of them.
