Ellen DeGeneres Reveals She Stopped Using Botox and Filler in Final Netflix Special

Ellen DeGeneres recently revealed that she stopped using Botox and fillers during her final Netflix special, Ellen DeGeneres: For Your Approval, which aired last month. The 66-year-old comedian candidly reflected on her changing perspective on appearance and aging.

“I used to say that I didn’t care what other people thought of me,” Ellen shared during the special. “I realize now, looking back, that I said that at the height of my popularity.” She humorously added, “If I look older than when you saw me last, it’s because I’m older than when you saw me last. And also, I stopped doing Botox and filler.”

The Mr. Wrong star confessed that her previous use of Botox and fillers was tied to worrying about how others perceived her. “I used to do Botox and filler back when I didn’t care what other people thought of me… such a waste of time to worry about what others think of us,” she remarked. “It’s just a waste of energy. We’re just guessing—we don’t know. It’s impossible to guess what people are thinking.”

Throughout the show, DeGeneres also shared insights into her health struggles, often with her signature humor. “I don’t even know how I’m standing up right now. I’m like a human sandcastle. I could disintegrate in the shower,” she joked.

The former talk show host spoke honestly about aging, admitting, “It’s hard to be honest about aging and seem cool.” She recounted a recent health scare, saying, “I had excruciating pain one day, and I thought I tore a ligament or something. I got an MRI, and they said, ‘No, it’s just arthritis.’ I asked, ‘How did I get that?’ And they said, ‘Oh, it just happens at your age.’”

Ellen also revealed that she’s managing various conditions, including ADD and OCD, while humorously discussing how these traits affect her. “I have ADD, I have OCD, I’m losing my memory. But I think I’m well-adjusted because I obsess on things,” she said, before adding, “But I don’t have the attention span to stick with it, and I quickly forget what I was obsessing about in the first place. So, it takes me all the way around to being well-adjusted, I think.”

DeGeneres’ final Netflix special provided a glimpse into her life after leaving daytime television, offering a mix of humor and vulnerability as she reflects on aging and self-acceptance.
