A Michigan woman, awaiting trial for allegedly setting her former husband on fire in 2021, was recently arrested in connection with a fatal house fire that claimed the lives of her employer and popular butcher, Glenn Andrews.
Julie Boxley, 52, faces first-degree murder and arson charges related to the March 5 fire in Ishpeming, Michigan, which resulted in the death of 72-year-old Glenn Andrews, the owner of Glenn’s Smokehouse, WNEM reported.
Glenn, a well-known local butcher, suffered severe burns during the fire and spent two weeks in the University of Michigan Burn Center before succumbing to his injuries. Boxley, who was residing with Andrews to assist in caring for his ailing wife, now faces serious charges in connection with the tragic incident, WILX-TV reported
According to a GoFundMe campaign, Andrews, a beloved figure in the community, had opened Glenn’s Smokehouse in Ishpeming, earning a reputation for his culinary expertise and camaraderie. His niece, Lisa Pittiglio, remembered him as a person who loved bringing people together through his passion for food.
Boxley’s arrest comes amidst another legal battle, as she faces charges for attempting to set her then-husband, James Boxley, on fire during Christmas in 2021. In that case, James testified about the terrifying incident, recounting how he woke up to find himself doused in cold liquid and facing a small flame. Boxley allegedly lit matches and threw them at him, expressing hatred.
In August, James Boxley testified about the Christmas incident, and Boxley’s attorney, Jennifer France, indicated that her client’s “history of mental illness” would be considered in determining her actions. In September, Boxley pleaded not guilty to charges, including great bodily harm less than murder and assault with intent to murder, and is scheduled to return to court in December.
As for the recent charges related to Glenn Andrews’ death, Julie Boxley is expected to be arraigned in Marquette County District Court on November 27. The records do not currently list an attorney for her.
