Melania Trump, the former First Lady, is reportedly taking steps to shield her son Barron from the fallout of Donald Trump’s escalating legal troubles. This protective stance comes amidst her noticeable absence from public appearances alongside her husband, particularly during his recent victory in the New Hampshire Republican primary.

Despite Donald Trump’s second primary win, Melania was conspicuously absent from the celebrations. This followed an incident where the couple was seen traveling separately after attending the funeral of Melania’s mother. An expert suggests that Melania’s absence and these separate travel arrangements may be indicative of her efforts to distance herself and Barron from Donald Trump’s increasing legal entanglements.

The former President is currently embroiled in multiple investigations at both the state and federal levels. These investigations have led to a lawsuit by the New York attorney general and four separate criminal indictments. Two of these indictments were initiated by special counsel Jack Smith, with additional cases brought by the Manhattan district attorney and local prosecutors in Georgia, reported Mirror.

Furthermore, Donald Trump faces challenges to his eligibility for state ballots due to his involvement in the events leading up to the January 6 Capitol riot. He is also grappling with numerous lawsuits and faces 91 felony charges across four states, all while campaigning for the presidency.

Grant Reeher, a political expert speaking to TheMirror.com, speculated that Melania’s reluctance to re-enter the public eye might be due to her husband’s legal and political controversies. “The family was very involved in the past two campaigns for president, so I’d think they would be involved again. From a distance, it seems that Melania became less enthusiastic about this role as the controversies and the scandals mounted, so I don’t know how involved she’ll want to be this time around,” Reeher said.

He also noted Melania’s possible desire to protect Barron from excessive media scrutiny. “And she may be keen to guard Barron from becoming too exposed. Once you draw on your family, they become fair game for the media and opposition research,” he added.

Speaking to Fox News Digital, Reeher mentioned that other family members, such as Trump’s adult children and in-laws, have previously been very active in his campaigns and administration, and he sees no reason for this to change.

Donald and Melania Trump did not publicly acknowledge their 19th wedding anniversary, and after Melania’s mother’s death, they were seen in separate vehicles. This led to online speculation about the state of their marriage, with some suggesting they lead separate lives.

However, Donald Trump has refuted these rumors. In an interview with Fox News’s Brian Kilmeade, he emphasized Melania’s role in his campaign and her qualities as a reliable and compassionate advisor. “She’s gonna play, and she always did play a big role,” Trump said, adding, “She was somebody that you could rely on. She’s very smart, a very compassionate person…she wants to make America Great again, too.”

He also mentioned his reluctance to involve his family too deeply in his campaign, acknowledging the excellent job they did last time but expressing a desire to limit their exposure this time around.
