Prince Harry and Meghan Markle warned over ‘burning bridges’ as UK return seems ‘incredibly difficult’
Royal commentator Jonathan Sacerdoti believes Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will have a difficult time returning to the UK because royal fans have already formed opinions about the couple.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are ‘burning bridges’ with the British public, according to an expert, and their actions may make it difficult for them to return to the UK.
When and if the royals return to the UK, it’s assumed that supporters of the Royal Family will have already made up their minds, according to reports.
People’s perceptions of the couple have shifted since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to America and left working royal life.
Most traditional royal followers are unlikely to change their thoughts, according to royal expert Jonathan Sacerdoti, considering recent events with the pair ‘burning bridges.’
Speaking to the Express, Mr. Sacerdoti said: “I think it is going to be incredibly difficult for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to return to the UK. I suspect they have burnt those bridges and I can’t see how traditional Royal Family fans will change their minds about Meghan and Harry.”
As per Dailystar, Mr. Sacerdoti also mentioned how things have changed since the “excitement and enthusiasm” surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding.
He also mentioned how, while the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may have lost some support, they still have some among Britain’s younger demographic.
In a September YouGov poll, the British public’s positive impression of Prince Harry fell from 43% in April to 34%.
Meghan’s public rating has similarly dropped, from 29% in April and to 26%.
Following their trip to New York, Harry and Meghan are said to have shifted their attention to the United States.
The pair were treated to a VIP sightseeing trip hosted by the city’s Mayor Bill de Blasio which included a visit to the 9/11 memorial site and the UN building.
The Sussex profile in the United States is likely to have risen as a result of the trip.
Although the ex-Sun royal editor Charlie Rae told TalkRADIO that the tour was glorified tourist visit.
Mr. Rae said: “Three days in New York, and I think some of the media are getting overexcited.
“There are hardly any crowds there in any of the photos. There are more NYPD officers than anyone else.”
