Kate Middleton Celebrate the Amazing Power of Photography at the National Portrait Gallery
Kate Middleton appreciated the efforts of all those engaged in the event on Instagram. She said: “Thank you to all the brilliant partners who made Hold Still a reality. It took a long time to bring everyone behind this incredible project together in person but tonight we finally managed it.
She explained: “The idea for #HoldStill2020 came right at the start of the pandemic, and aimed to bring people and communities together, using the amazing power of photography.
“It was made possible by so many partners – @nationalportraitgallery @coopuk @bookfairies_uk – to name just a few, and what’s more remarkable is how it was all orchestrated from kitchen tables and spare bedrooms!”
The Duchess of Cambridge is a supporter of the National Portrait Gallery and was significantly involved in the development of the project. The National Portrait Gallery described Hold Still as an “ambitious community project to create a unique collective portrait of the UK during the lockdown.”
A panel of judges selected 100 portraits from over 30,000 applications from around the country and across generations for the final display.
The National Portrait Gallery replied to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s official Instagram account to appreciate Kate. They said: “An incredible project we’re honored to have been a part of – thank you.”
The royal fan account, william_catherine82, commented: “Ah what a surprise to see our Duchess tonight!!
“She looked beautiful as always,” they posted, alongside heart-eyed emojis.
They further said: “I’m so happy for everyone who got to meet her tonight!
“Hold Still is an amazing project.”
Another account philibeth_cambridges commented: “So proud of our future Queen!”
Another royal supporter’s Instagram account, Cambfamily, responded to the Duchess’s post: “I think this is one of the most important projects ever of the RF, and we will talk about it for a while” alongside heart-eyed emoji.
